Instruments of Medicine - 2

Here are some more of the drawings I did at the Gordon Museum, in London, SE1. I have a few ideas of how to develop them (coupled with another visit to the museum if I can wangle it). However, that may not happen in the near future, so I thought it was only right to share some more, rather than keep it up my sleeve(s). An interesting array of devices and procedures here, but in case you can't read my writing I've listed their descriptions underneath.

Drawing for Life - 11

Back at the life drawing again. The first session of 2014 and it was rammed. I've never seen so many people there. It's good for Betty, but we'll see how many will stick to the "I must do more drawing" resolution.

I was very happy to try out some new mark making tools - charcoal pencils. I like charcoal but miss the control you get with a pencil, so I thought I'd try them out.

I was really pleased with the results (not something I say every week) so will definitely be trying them again.

Mutual Tunnels animation by Jun Cen

When I visited the AOI Illustration Awards at Somerset House, last October, I saw some lovely atmospheric work from Jun Cen. As well as 'non-moving' images, he created an animation based on his work. Yes, I know it's taken a handful of months to blog about this, but it's worth the wait. I'd love to create something like this. One day!

Work in Progress - Derelict Buildings

I did this drawing today (at home, working from a photo I'd taken on my phone AGES ago). I probably should have done it in situ / from 'life' but hey ho - it is January, remember.

I thought I'd share it with you. I really like it, but the final piece will be will quite different, and more colourful. I'm planning to do a series of personal works based on derelict or run down buildings I've spotted - partly for fun, and partly because any minute now it will be a car park or a row of betting shops. The real place is somewhere near Whitechapel and Spitalfields. I can't remember precisely, I'm afraid. Sorry.

. However, I thought it might be nice to share my final image and it's developmental drawings. The flowery pattern is a scan of an old piece of bathroom wallpaper from my house. The room has been redecorated, now, but I'm glad I kept a sample for future use. You never know when a pink twee pattern may prove to be useful.
